God's Song: The Melody that Sustains All of Creation
“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.” - Zephaniah 3:17
Our mighty God rejoices over you with joy and singing. That word rejoice—it’s not just happiness. It means to spin like a top, whirling with violent emotion. Imagine that—God, spinning with joy, caught up in a holy dance over you.
As He spins, He reflects His nature. From the very beginning, when God spoke the earth into existence, He created a place for you to inhabit. And now, He waits for you to create what He will inhabit. He longs to dwell within the beauty of what you make, your creativity, just as you dwell within what He made.
Did you know that God is a singer? His voice is a melody, a force that shaped the universe. When He created the earth, He didn’t just set it in place; He flung it into space and set it spinning, resonating with His song. The whole of creation hums along, vibrating with the frequencies of His voice, reaching far beyond what our ears can hear. Beyond sound—into the sound of heaven. It’s the roar of many waters, the thunder of mighty waves, the rush of wind, the crackle of fire.
Picture it—thousands upon thousands of voices, like a stadium filled with souls breathing the song they were born to sing. That’s the sound of heaven, the sound of creation echoing His. Even the stones buried deep beneath the earth, down to their smallest particles, are still vibrating in harmony with that first word He spoke.
If the stones ever stopped resounding—if their vibration ceased—the earth would spin off its axis, crashing into the heavens. But it won’t happen. Do you know why? Because all things are upheld by the sound of His voice. His song is still resonating, still sustaining, still suspending the earth. Everything, even the very ground beneath your feet, is held together by the sound of His creation song.
